- ignorance and hatred, its pure and simple disgust at the thought of someone

- perversion as socially acceptable behavior. You faggots are doing something

- Hate is what the gays have for those like me. But that doesn't mean that I

-

- and burdening society with yet another special interest group that has only
- hedonistic self interest at heart.
-
- Lets face it - your whole motive for being what you are is to attract

- order that cares nothing but for its own motives and "feels-good" self
- interest.
-
- I have nothing but pity and disgust for you and your kind. I view you and

- What does this have to do with Amatuer radio? Nothing, except unfortunately

- That may have been most of the problem. Some folks are likely
- to be turned off when they answer an 18-wpm CQ only to be asked
- to QRS to 10-13. Still, would have been nice if they had told you
- that rather than just terminating.

- Congrats! The same thing happened to me - dappled in CW
- to start since it was all I had available. Lost all interest
- in voice/digital pretty quick. :) Never had so much fun
- before. Working across North America on 5 watts and a low
- inverted-vee is great! Still want that beam though... :)
-
- QRP is alot of fun, but it does take some thought towards
- strategy. A good one (for starting out) is to answer the
- calls of the loudest signals on the band. Calling CQ isn't
- the best strategy to start but don't be afraid to do it,
- particularly if the band is good.
-
- Which leads to the key point - know your propagation
- conditions. Monitor WWV (5000, 10000, 15000 KHz) to
- check the bands. 14100 has a network of beacons, I believe.
- Also, tune in around the QRP calling frequencies.
-
- Try getting on the qrp mailing list. I believe you send
- email to listserv@netcom.com and put "subscribe qrp-l"
- in the message body.

- First just about any electronics store in Causeway Bay or in Kowloon

- One way broadcasts are prohibited except under certain restricted

- You *could* be in a two way contact with another amateur and

- Good luck. I had some fierce QRM (nor QRN... N=natural, M=manmade)
- a few months ago. I called the power company and made a point of NOT
- mentioning the fact I was a ham. I told them it was interfering with
- the TV (oh my GOD!!) and the AM bdcst band. The investigator was out

- At that time I told them I was a ham and described how bad the QRM

-
-
- Three weeks later the problem resurfaced. I have called a few times

- put amateur band QRM complaints on very low priority.
-
- If you're getting interference on your tv set, you're in luck. Play

- Most repeater controllers mask inputed Touchtones (tm). This is to

- Laser doppler radar *does* exist, and is being used by a few US police
- departments. (I've handled one of the units used by the Georgia State
- Patrol.) This is totally different from the old VASCAR time and
- distance equipment. However, local TV doppler weather radar is *not*
- laser, it's Ka band equipment manufactured by Harris. (I service this
- stuff.) The FAA windshear measuring radar is also *not* laser. It's
- UHF RF at 449.0 MHz (right in the amateur 70 cm band's repeater input
- segment, not pretty).
-
- The laser speed measuring doppler radar unit I handled has a TV
- camera sensitive to the IR frequency used by the laser unit as
- an aiming device. You can clearly see the spot reflected off the
- car in the viewfinder. The unit is setup so the officer can videotape
- the bust. The speed reads out in characters keyed into the video
- picture. If you try to stealth the car, it's obvious in the camera
- viewfinder, and all the officer has to do is move the point of aim
- slightly, to a piece of chrome, the windshield, a headlight, a parking
- light reflector, etc until he sees the spot reflection, then he's got
- you.
-
- The only way I can see to beat this system is an active IR jammer.
- It'd have to be really powerful too because even a functioning
- headlight, which pumps out lots of IR, won't blind the system.

- I haven't beated, hounded or harrassed anyone. I just don't see the
- need to make such a big deal about *forcing* normal people to accept
- your behavior and give you special privileges for something you choose

- I heart the other day that it is a little over 2% for men and a little
- less than 2% for women. No way is it 10%.
